AI Case Studies
During the summer of 2024, following OpenAI’s announcement of (limited) free access to all GPT-4o products for all users, I decided to explore a novel approach to delivering case studies to students.
This approach requires students to engage in conversations with characters from the case, asking follow-up questions and uncovering case information through a dynamic, inquiry-driven process.
By immersing students in the narrative, this method fosters empathy and creates a more realistic simulation of real-life scenarios.
Additionally, it mitigates the risk of students misusing generative AI by simply inputting case PDFs for answers.
AI Mini-Activities
Throughout the course, I designed a series of mini in-class activities to help students explore career-relevant applications of AI.
These activities incorporated advanced analytical tools requiring a solid understanding of statistics, including factor analysis, multidimensional scaling, multiple regression, and decision trees.
Given the significant stress and anxiety commerce students face due to uncertainties in their target career fields—such as consulting, investment banking, insurance, and auditing—these activities were designed to equip them with practical skills. This preparation enabled them to approach the job market with greater confidence and competence.
